Banks Peninsula & Akaroa (South Island)

20th Dec 10:
Situated 80Km from Christchurch. Akaroa means "Long Harbour" in Maori and it's the country's 1st French settlement with a big French comunity still residing there.
It looks like a "little Britanny" with small "boulangeries, coffee shops and restaurants..."
Banks Peninsula were formed by 2 giant volcanic eruptions.

Banks Peninsula.

The most amazing sunset we've seen.

Akaroa.

Check out the duck train behind us :-)

In Akaroa with our friend Benoit.

On a normal day traffic.

Little Akaloa Bay; one of Banks Peninsula's surrounding bays.
