Routeburn Track / Milford Sound

16th Dec 10:
The "Routeburn" track is one of the most famous walks in Milford Sound. It is a 63Km walk starting from either the "Divide" to the "Routeburn Shelter". Unfortunately we only did the one day walk (10 hours) from the Divide to the lake McKenzie.

Some more glaciers on the way to the Routeburn track.

As usual, the view was amazing.

On the track.
Waterfalls and small rivers all the way during the walk.

Short break by Howden Hut, one of the base camping sites.

Small bridge crossing over the river.

The most amazing waterfalls.

Lake McKenzie... WOW !!

Little siesta...
Still deciding if to swim or not... water: 3 degrees :-) brrr

He did!!
 and me too :-)

Feeling fresh and full of energy after the swim.. for the 4 hours walk ahead.

It was too hard to resist!

Woo Hoo :-) he did it again!

End of the walk...

Milford Sound / Fiordland National Park (South Island)

15th Dec 10:
Fiordland is NZ's rawest wilderness area. Part of the Wahipounamu Southwest New Zealand World Heritage Area.
On the road to Milford Sound.

The spectacular 1692m-high Mitre Peak.

On the Milford Sound cruise.

During the wet season hundreds of waterfalls can be seen in this area.

Seals sunbathing.

Under the waterfall.

Dedicated to Nicola..

Queenstown (South Island)

12th of Dec 10:
Queenstown is situated on the South West of the South island. It is a big version of Wanaka and offers a mountain of activities. Being the 1st place of bungy jumping, it's one of the busiest destinations in NZ.
We followed Cardrona river from Wanaka to Queenstown. The colour was amazing!

On the road we stopped at Gibbston Valley a winery & cheesery.

Queenstown!!!

After 2 weeks of eating like birds, we indulged on 2 huge Queenstown style burgers... Yummy Yummy !!

... and dessert of course :-)

Looking strong for the "Loop track" that takes you on the top of a mountain overlooking Queenstown and the lake.

 Half way to the top.

After 1 hour, finally we reached the top! Again the view was unbelievable.

Our friend Pedro that we met by coincidence in Queenstown :-)
